GoPro has expanded its professional line with the Mission 1 Pro ILS, a $700 camera featuring a Type 1 sensor and a Micro Four Thirds mount. The device supports 8K recording and slow-motion modes up to 960fps. Unlike the fixed-lens Mission 1 Pro, the ILS model requires fully mechanical native or adapted lenses, as the mount lacks electronic contacts for autofocus or aperture control. Weighing 207 grams, the body includes a 2.6-inch rear touchscreen and a 1.4-inch front panel. To assist manual focusing, GoPro added focus peaking and punch-in magnification. Professionals can add the $149.99 Media Mod Cage to access 3.5mm audio ports, micro HDMI, and shoe mounts. While the camera body features some weather sealing, the ILS is not waterproof. It maintains compatibility with traditional GoPro, magnetic, and 1/4-inch thread mounts.
Creative professionals can now pair GoPro’s 8K sensor with cinema glass or vintage lenses for shallow depth of field. However, the lack of electronic contacts requires a strictly manual workflow and careful monitoring via the small integrated displays.
