The solo exhibition features a site-specific installation reinterpreting a 2007 design along with a new catalogue from Spector Books.
Artist Lena Henke is presenting a major solo exhibition at the MARTa Museum in Herford, Germany. Running from February 28 through June 14, 2026, the presentation brings Henke's distinct sculptural and spatial practice to the renowned contemporary art institution. Central to the exhibition is a new site-specific installation conceived specifically for the museum's architecture and context.
The featured installation reinterprets the “Kitchen for the Man,” an earlier project stemming from a 2007 design collaboration involving a German kitchen manufacturer. Through this site-specific intervention, Henke engages directly with historical design concepts, reframing the collaboration within a contemporary museum setting.
Marking the occasion of the solo exhibition at MARTa Herford, Henke has also produced an accompanying catalogue. The publication was designed in collaboration with Studio Sandra Doeller and published by Spector Books. Highlighting the conceptual continuity across the artist's output, the catalogue shares its title directly with the new site-specific installation created specifically for the museum space.
The project underscores significant collaborative and institutional work in Germany, bringing together Henke's museum installation with specialized German book design and publishing.
The exhibition highlights key institutional activity in Germany, showing how contemporary artists engage directly with German design history and collaborate with German publishing houses and design studios to produce ambitious site-specific museum work.
