Ricoh is developing the GR IVx, a new iteration featuring a 25.7-megapixel sensor and a 40mm equivalent lens. This model uses a newly developed optic rather than porting hardware from the GR IIIx. The lens construction includes eight elements in six groups with three aspherical elements, offering an aperture range of f/2.8 to f/16. The 26.1mm lens provides a field of view intended for snapshot photography that differs from the 28mm wide-angle found on the standard GR IV. Integrated features include a built-in two-stop ND filter. As production for the GR IIIx, IIIx HDF, and IIIx Urban Edition concludes this October, Ricoh prepares to replace these models in the market. The announcement coincides with the 30th anniversary of the GR series, following the recent release of a special edition GR IV.
