Venus Optics has launched the Laowa 24mm f/2 Tilt-Shift lens in China. The lens features an f/2 aperture, which is over a stop faster than existing 24mm tilt-shift options from Nikon and Canon. Designed for mirrorless E, Z, RF, and L-Mount systems, it also supports GFX and XCD medium-format bodies. The optical construction includes 13 elements in 10 groups, utilizing five ED elements, two aspherical elements, and four high-refractive-index glass elements. A 14-bladed aperture and a 77mm front filter thread are standard. The unit weighs 860 grams and provides a shift range of +/- 12mm alongside a tilt range of +/- 10mm. A rotating mount allows for quick orientation changes. While global pricing is pending, the official Chinese price is set at RMB 7,650, approximately $1,140.
The f/2 aperture extends tilt-shift utility into low-light environments and astrophotography where slower lenses typically fail. Its compatibility with medium-format systems without reduced movement offers architectural and landscape photographers greater flexibility in high-resolution workflows.
